Workforce Challenge

Linda tells her story: “I moved to Mississippi 7 years ago. My father and husband found out they had cancer at the same time a few months after we moved here. After my father passed away and my husband was able to care for himself, I returned to work through a job training program with Experience Works as Resource Assistant at the Corinth WIN Job Center.

Workforce Solution

During the first few weeks, Amanda Johnson, Customer Service Coordinator, made me aware of all the services available at center, including gas cards to enable people to get back and forth to training. She enrolled me into core WIA services and then counseled with me. At that time I did not think I could continue to go back and forth due to lack of funds to pay for gas. If not for this assistance, I would not have been able to continue my job training."

Outcomes & Benefits

Linda continued with Experience Works, becoming a Supervisor in the program. Eventually, she applied for a job with the state and was hired full time.

"I am so grateful for the assistance I received through the WIN. It's been instrumental in allowing for me to move on to the next step of my life. My future is much brighter.”
