Meet Fawn

Workforce Challenge

Fawn relocated from another state due to a domestic violence situation. New to the area with no social capital, homeless, and without a job, Fawn was referred to the internship program hoping to get her foot in the door to resume her experience working in early education.

Workforce Solution

Fawn was referred to a LCWC early childhood program worksite and began an internship there while maneuvering the challenges of moving from one shelter to another on a weekly basis. Fawn and her son have been involved in a homeless program that has a network of sites that host homeless families on a rotation basis. The challenge with that it meant having to navigate a new bus schedule a week at a time. Determined to be successful, Fawn rose up to the challenge and was able to get to her internship site on a timely basis without fail.

Outcomes & Benefits

This impressed her site enough that when her internship ended and a part-time position opened, Fawn was hired on. Further motivated by her successes, Fawn is now looking to attain a full-time position so she can secure housing for her son and herself.
