Meet Aaron

Workforce Challenge

Aaron had been driving a truck for a local farmer (non CDL driving) when he had a falling out. The primary challenge Aaron had is that he had a fairly poor driving record, and he wanted to become a CDLA truck driver. His MVR was judged to be too poor for the Recruiter at Careers World Wide CDLA school who thought it would be unlikely he would be able to be hired.

Workforce Solution

We worked with Aaron to help him contact local trucking companies to see if his experience as a truck driver could help him overcome his MVR issues. He contact Freedom Loads in Fort Morgan about his situation. After some consultation, the company decided to pre-hire him as an over-the-road truck driver contingent on his receipt of his CDLA.

Outcomes & Benefits

The WIOA Adult program was able to fund the expenses for his CDLA test at Careers World Wide in Keenesburg. He passed the test, and was able to obtain his CDLA. He went to work for Freedom Loads immediately as an CDLA OTR truck driver. He is still driving for them.
