Meet Miriam

Workforce Challenge

Miriam moved to Durango from California approximately two years ago. She has been struggling to find a permanent, full-time job. She has been working for minimal pay and not making enough money to help support her family. Her husband is disabled, & she is the main bread winner.

Workforce Solution

During the past three months, Miriam has registered in Connecting Colorado, created a resume & cover letter, and has actively been seeking employment. She has been committed to coming into the Workforce Center every day to seek employment. She has stayed positive as she applied for many, many jobs listed in Connecting Colorado as well as other jobs utilizing the WFC Resource computers. The Workforce Center staff have assisted her in putting together resume & cover letters and has assisted with web applications, etc. She has been very determined.

Outcomes & Benefits

Miriam let WFC staff know that she has obtained permanent, full- time employment as a Sales Manager for Famous Footwear. She will work 40+ hours per week with benefits. She thanked the Workforce Center staff for their assistance and was very glad that the resource area computers have been available to her to use on a constant basis as she sought employment and finally landed a job that she found posted in Connecting Colorado.
