Meet Cynthia

Workforce Challenge

Cynthia had limited work experience and job skills and previously lacked support to attend post-secondary education. She knew she wanted to work in the medical field, but didn't know what area or how to start the process.

Workforce Solution

With labor market research and interest testing, the Cynthia decided she was interested in medical assisting and was approved for Adult WIA funding to begin training. She also obtained her CNA license to provide income while in training. She had not attended college, so there was adjustment to returning to school and learning to self advocate. Cynthia was friendly, but shy and lacked confidence. Through regular client meetings offering support, positive reinforcement and encouragement, she continued to succeed as she completed each semester. Her confidence grew, and she successfully completed her MA certificate.

Outcomes & Benefits

Cynthia was able to obtain a CNA position while attending her MA program to gain more skills and provide income. She relocated shortly after graduation with her spouse and successfully obtained a job as a Medical Assistant in Bozeman Deaconess Hospital and loves her job more each day. She is an accomplished, confident, employed woman assisting others. She doesn't believe she could have completed her goals without the assistance of her career coach at the Yuma Workforce Center and the WIA program.
