Meet Jennifer

Workforce Challenge

Jennifer was in danger of losing custody of her child due to an unfit living situation with drug abuse in the house. Child Welfare assisted her in getting into the Guadalupe Shelter. During her stay at the shelter, TANF referred her to WIOA as she was in need of employment as well as stable housing in a drug free environment.

Workforce Solution

The WIOA Adult program was able to obtain housing through LAM Ministries, a safe and drug free housing program. The first month's rent, deposit and transportation assistance was arranged in collaboration with TANF, Women to Women, the Guadalupe Shelter and Human Services Community Outreach Program. With stable housing intact, the Jennifer was ready to find employment.

Outcomes & Benefits

Jennifer was able to obtain housing and employment. She and her son will be staying at LAM Ministries throughout their 18-24 month program. Through this program she will gain self sufficiency and be able to move to permanent housing. She is maintaining full time employment.
