Meet Christine

Workforce Challenge

Christine's job was moved overseas so she was eligible for the Dislocated Worker and TAA programs. Christine had worked at her previous job for 11 years as a Quality Control Engineer. She had no post-high school education, and she learned all her skills on the job. She could not find suitable employment without additional education.

Workforce Solution

Christine, with the vocational guidance of her case manager, did labor market research for a new career. She was granted a TAA scholarship to attend Front Range Community College for an AAS degree in Health Information Technology (HIT). She was also co-enrolled in the WIA DW program which enabled her to receive supportive services while in training (i.e. gas cards for transportation to and from school).

Outcomes & Benefits

Christine completed her training with a 4.0 GPA and was hired even before she received her AAS in HIT in May 2016. She is now permanently employed with a major medical facility and is already in the process of being promoted to a lead on her team. Her salary is good with a bright future for more promotions.
