Meet Gadi

Workforce Challenge

Gadi was laid off as a Directional Driller after nine years. He had been told that he was over-qualified, but he needed income and was willing to take any opportunity allowing him to grow with the company. Gadi has a MA in Petroleum Engineering and a BA in Electrical Engineering. Despite this, Gadi's job log documented his difficulty in securing employment. Gadi was seeking CDLA, which was a challenge to prove he would earn comparable wages to his previous occupation.

Workforce Solution

Gadi wanted to go OTR and stated he also felt that once the oil and gas industry was stable, having his CDL would allow him to get his foot back in the door and grow into a position where he could utilize his MA degree, his CDLA and his oil field industry experience. Although this was a difficult case to approve as he would earn substantially lower wages, it was determined that this was the best option for Gadi at the time. He would have the opportunity to find immediate employment and grow with the company and eventually get back into the oil field once the industry was stable again and be able to earn comparable wages soon.

Outcomes & Benefits

Although Gadi struggled at first and worked for two other trucking companies, making minimal wages, he gained the experience needed in a few short months. Now he owns his own company and has one person working for him. He said it is working out great. He is paying himself as a salaried employee to leave some funds for his company budget. He stated this is an opportunity that will allow him to make comparable wages with what he was previously making prior to his layoff.
