Meet Miryah

Workforce Challenge

Miryah was a younger youth with very limited work experience who had not yet established a vocational/scholastic goal for her post-secondary future. She experienced a lot of difficulty in obtaining an un-subsidized employment opportunity in a very rural community.

Workforce Solution

Miryah participated in the Burlington Workforce Center Youth Work Skills Camp. She took the youth geared training "Bring Your A-Game to Work," actively participated with an employer panel, discussed ways to overcome Millennial stereotypes, participated in "Post Secondary Round Tables," & observed a mock interview. Because of her outstanding participation, she was awarded the opportunity to complete a paid work experience. She continued working with BWFC staff to complete her high school diploma.

Outcomes & Benefits

Miryah successfully completed her high school diploma, receiving youth incentives for attendance and grades throughout her senior year. Miryah has also worked with BWFC staff to complete a resume & cover letter and now has that as part of her portfolio. She plans to attend Colorado State University at Colorado Springs in the fall. Way to go Miryah!
