Meet Courtyard Marriott Westminster

Workforce Challenge

The Courtyard by Marriott was opening a brand new hotel in Westminster, and needed to fill approximately 100 positions, especially housekeeping and food services. They were having a hard time filling these entry level positions and were unsure where to turn. A sister hotel had used workforce services in the past and recommended that the HR team at the new property reach out to Adams County.

Workforce Solution

Business Service Representatives from the workforce center met with Marriott to strategize methods that would bring more attention to their open positions. One solution was to have them attend the quarterly Job Opportunity Fair sponsored by the workforce center. The purpose of this fair is to assist participants in the Employment First, TANF, and Head Start programs in finding gainful employment, and thus eliminating the need for financial/food assistance. This particular population of job seekers typically has barriers to employment, and is in need of entry level positions. This was a perfect fit for the Marriott!

Outcomes & Benefits

The new Courtyard Marriott now has an active account on Connecting Colorado and several open positions posted. They will be attending several job fairs, including the Job Opportunity Fair. They have also received a competitive wage analysis report for their open/hard to fill positions to ensure their wage was in line within the industry and region. Although still in the process of hiring, they are now in a much better position to fill their workforce needs.
