Meet Ashlynn

Workforce Challenge

Ashlynn was an in-school youth who was a junior in high school with a physical disability. Her goal was to eventually become employed as a forest ranger or an environmentalist after graduating from college. Her physical disability was a rare kidney disease which requires access to water for constant hydration and rest room access.

Workforce Solution

Ashlynn was placed in a work experience at a state park to see if she could overcome her challenges and learn the skills needed in this field. She was given a back pack with supply of water needed to maintain hydration.

Outcomes & Benefits

Not only did she meet those challenges, but the state park continued her employment until the seasonal position was no longer needed. She has since completed and received her high school diploma six months early and will start full-time study in the fall in forestry.
