Meet Neredia

Workforce Challenge

When Neredia came to Workforce Boulder County (WfBC), she was not 100% sure about her career path, and her confidence level was very low. She was concerned that her English proficiency wasn't strong enough to enable her to successfully pass a job interview.

Workforce Solution

After a few coaching sessions with Ceclia, an Internship Coordinator, Neredia's confidence started to grow. She also realized that early childhood education was the career she wanted to follow. Neredia interviewed so well with Boulder County Head Start that she was brought on as an intern in January 2015. Neredia's supervisor has been impressed, noting that Neredia understands perfectly the mission and values of the Head Start program and demonstrates good attendance, punctuality and willingness to learn.

Outcomes & Benefits

Neredia's internship was extended and her hours increased so that she could help the Director and Program Manager finalize year-end reports. Neredia was referred to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program for assistance with training funding. If approved, she plans on starting training for Child Care Assistance Certification, and it is likely that Neredia will be hired on with Head Start as a permanent Classroom Aide in August 2016!
