Meet Heaven

Workforce Challenge

Heaven, a 21-year-old female, came to employment services for assistance in finding a job. She was in some legal trouble and needed to find employment to escape a jail or work release sentence. Since graduating from high school, she had a hard time keeping a job and had already worked at over seven different agencies.

Workforce Solution

Leslie, a WIOA Youth Case Manager, interviewed Heaven to find out what her passion was as she worried that if she simply found Heaven another job, she would end up leaving it or getting fired from it like all the previous jobs. Heaven shared that she had dreams of being a nurse assistant and that she really loved to help people when they were at weakest. Leslie saw more than a young adult who needed a job. She saw someone who needed a career and began providing job search assistance as well as the process to enroll into the Certified Nursing Program at Aims Community College.

Outcomes & Benefits

Heaven obtained a job at a local nursing home as a food aid with hopes to transition within the company once she obtained further education. Heaven started the CNA program on January 20th and on March 10th passed her state testing. Heaven appeared in the local paper, the Greeley Tribune, as being one of the CNAs who cared for Earl Bentley, the man who gave his farmland so Aims Community College can educate tomorrow's future. His dream became Heaven's reality.
