Meet Crystal

Workforce Challenge

Crystal came into our office in April, 2015, requesting assistance with tuition for BSN training at the University of Northern Colorado.
Crystal was a single mom, with six kids living at home, who had been a stay-home mom for several years. She recently had lost her source of income due to a divorce.

Workforce Solution

She got enrolled immediately and received assistance with tuition. Crystal completed the BSN program in August, 2015. In fall of 2015 Crystal continued with completion of a Bachelor’s in History which she was pursuing simultaneously with her BSN. During this time she also spent several weeks at the hospital with one of her daughters, but she managed to keep up with her school workload although it was very difficult as she expressed on her long emails to her Case Manager.

In December 2015 Crystal graduated and received both degrees. She got her RN license immediately after, and started her job search. Soon she realized this wasn’t going to be an easy task. She reached out to her Case Manager for assistance.

Outcomes & Benefits

Her Case Manager provided job search assistance and encouraged Crystal to participate in job search workshops. Crystal attended workshops, and soon after her job search efforts paid off. She got hired as an RN.

Crystal is very grateful for assistance received. She wrote to her Case Manager, “Thank you so very much for all the support and encouragement you have been to me. I tell everyone about the services you provide at Workforce!”
