Meet Lacy

Workforce Challenge

Lacy recently graduated from high school and attempted one semester at the local community college; she was uncertain of what she wanted to do. She struggled financially and needed a job, but she had no real work experience besides her odd job cleaning houses. Lacy had no resume and didn't even know where to begin.

Workforce Solution

Lacy was referred to our Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) youth program, a member county of the North Central Consortium, through a friend. She completed a work readiness workshop and created a resume. A mock interview and online certificated course were also provided. Through this youth program, she attended and assisted the WIOA program's job fair where she had opportunities to network with many employers. She is now employed as a part time Janitor Helper with the City of Yuba City.

Outcomes & Benefits

Lacy still works at the City of Yuba City where she earns more than a minimum wage. She is currently looking for a better job that gives her more hours and benefits.
