Meet Jessica

Workforce Challenge

Jessica separated from her most recent job through no fault of her own. This was particularity stressful for Jessica as she was the sole income for her family. She spent months applying for jobs, but struggled to secure employment.

Workforce Solution

Jessica was referred to the La Junta WFC by her Social Services technician for potential assistance for supportive services. Jessica had tentative employment with a local in-home home care facility, but because she had been unemployed for several months, she did not have the financial means to purchase the required clothing or afford the fuel to drive throughout the county to clients' homes.

Outcomes & Benefits

Jessica was assessed for eligibility and suitability for the WIOA Adult program for assistance with supportive services to secure full-time employment. The WIOA program assisted Jessica in purchasing the required scrubs and assisted with purchasing fuel until she received a few paychecks and was able to get back on her feet. Without WIOA assistance, Jessica would not have secured this employment, but moreover, secured financial security for her and her family.
