Meet Merrie

Workforce Challenge

Merrie was laid off from her job as a chiropractic
assistant doing clerical work. Her main concern was to obtain
full-time employment with benefits as she was laid off after being employed for 15 years and now realized how important benefits are. She was hopeful to seek positions that paid comparable to her previous salary. She was having a hard time paying for bills with her UI benefits. She needed to get to work as soon as possible, but didn't feel she had the appropriate attire for interviewing.

Workforce Solution

At our initial meeting we developed an IEP, and it was brought to my attention by Merrie that she needed clothing for her interview the next morning with the City of Brighton, which would be the ideal position. She was so occupied preparing for her interview that she didn't have the time to go shopping. she also had a job offer with Waste Management and we discussed that being the right fit for her. We discussed interviewing and set her up with the CASH closet, and she was able to find a new suit outfit and brand new shoes to go to her interview the next morning.

Outcomes & Benefits

Merrie took the position with Waste Management and was very grateful for the support she received from the workforce center in a desperate time of need. Merrie said, "I want to tell you and all the personnel at Adams County Work Force, THANK YOU! Thank you so much for all your help. I had never been unemployed before, and I was a little freaked out at first. Finding you guys was a huge relief. I will recommend you to anyone I know can use your services. You guys are awesome."
