Meet Leslie

Workforce Challenge

After 23 years in the printing industry, Leslie chose to leave her career. She knew there was no future in printing, but she felt completely ill-equipped to find a new job. She didn't know if her skills were transferrable to another field, and her confidence was sorely lacking. She hadn't written a resume or been interviewed in years, and she wasn't familiar with the social media aspects of job searching. She also worried that being over 50 would pose a challenge in getting hired.

Workforce Solution

Leslie registered with Workforce Boulder County (WfBC) in April 2015, hoping that the resources available through the Training and Re-Employment program would help prepare her for job searching. She took many workshops, including career exploration, resume writing, interview, linkedIn and "Transition, Transform, Transcend." Leslie also had a one-on-one career goal-setting session with Employment and Training Specialist, Claire.

Outcomes & Benefits

After posting her updated resume on one of the WfBC job boards, Leslie was contacted by a recruiter and interviewed with the employer. Thrilled with her experience and her longevity at her last position, the company placed her in a full-time temp-to-hire position. Leslie says that the workshops she took through WfBC greatly enhanced her confidence and helped her recognize the value she could bring to a new employer, as well as market her skills effectively.
