Meet Indira

Workforce Challenge

As a Nepali native, Indira worked part-time in retail, but she was unhappy with the unpredictable hours and unfulfilling work. She knew she wanted a change, but she was anxious about her lack of skills, especially computer skills. She visited Workforce Boulder County (WfBC) for help.

Workforce Solution

In hopes of improving her computer skills, Indira began taking WfBC's Self-Directed Computer Labs (SDLs). She says that these labs helped her improve her typing skills and confidence in using Microsoft Office, Outlook and Excel. She also took part in career exploration, resume building and interview classes. She connected with the Internship Coordinator, Cecilia, who helped her apply for the ReHire Colorado Program and apply for internship positions.

Outcomes & Benefits

Indira secured a position with Boulder County Community Services as an Administrative Intern. In her position, Indira continues to build on her computer skills and gain valuable work experience in a busy county office. Indira says, "It's great. I couldn't have gotten this internship without WfBC's help in improving my computer skills and building a great resume." She encourages others to take advantage of WfBC's resources and services.
