Workforce Challenge

Patchwood worked with the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) to establish themselves as a state/government supplier. With the ability to bid on government contracts, they hoped to increase production and create more jobs in the community. Patchwood soon landed a pallet contract with the government and needed training on how to read blueprints. Their plan was to increase production capability by hiring five new employees and expand their existing area layout.

Workforce Solution

MW! provided Patchwood with $9,720 via the Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) for Basic Blueprint Reading and Manufacturing Measurements Training at Kirtland Community College. With the guidance of MW!, Patchwood used to successfully find and hire five new employees who would attend training.

Outcomes & Benefits

The two half-day classes trained 17 employees (12 current employees and 5 new hires), and the company was able to successfully fill its contractual obligation. With increased production as well as employees with greater skill sets, they intend to seek even larger bids.
