Meet Love's Travel Stops

Workforce Challenge

Love's Travel Stops was opening a new business in a community with an approximate unemployment rate of 2.1%. It would be the largest Love's Travel Stops in Colorado, open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They needed to fill approximately 75 full time job openings and hit a target open date of March 10th, 2016.

Workforce Solution

Burlington Workforce in partnership with the City of Burlington's Old Town Museum pulled together to host a huge hiring event for Love's Travel Stops/Carl's Junior. The Workforce Center advertised job openings, pre-registered applicants, provided online application assistance, scheduled interviews every 15 minutes from 9am - 5pm and provided interview space for 4 hiring managers--all at no-cost to the employer. In two days Love's Travel Stops conducted 64 interviews with the help of the Burlington Workforce Center. Staff from the Yuma Workforce Center assisted in executing the hiring event as both WFC offices are 1 person offices.

Outcomes & Benefits

Adam, General Manager, was very impressed with attendance and organization. He specifically commented how this event has reduced the amount of time it would have taken him to make sure online applications were completed and to schedule interviews. With BWFC handling those steps, it freed up his time to make sure other business was in order so they stayed on track to open on March 10th. Their overall applicants increased once Love's released the job opening to be advertised thru BWFC.
