Meet Leoner

Workforce Challenge

As a single mom, Leoner was on federal assistance. She needed employment to ensure a better life for herself and her seven-year-old daughter. She had a high school diploma and gained a certificate as a medical assistant from attendance at a local regional occupation program.

Workforce Solution

Friends referred her to the Workforce Investment Board for job search assistance, and Leoner was soon taking workshops on resume writing, interview skills and job search techniques. She was also accepted for a work experience job as a clerk, where she learned customer service skills, time management and other important workplace skills. Her case manager continued to provide motivational guidance and job leads.

Outcomes & Benefits

Soon, Leoner was offered a job with San Bernardino County as an office assistant with the Department of Behavioral Health in Hesperia. She says, “I would like to say thank you to all the staff who helped me become successful. They showed me high levels of respect and went over and beyond to assist me in any way they could. They are truly dedicated and provide an outstanding, quality service.”
