Meet Marcus

Workforce Challenge

Marcus came to WIOA program requesting CDLA training. He was laid off from his full-time job as an equipment operator. He was not meeting his budget as he had not yet applied for UI benefits. He has a BA degree in Business Administration, but because he didn't work in that field, he was not getting hired. He had been laid off three times from his last three employers and felt that having a CDLA license would give him more job stability and a better income.

Workforce Solution

Marcus was assisted with the UI benefit process and answered the questions and concerns he had about applying for benefits in order to be financially stable throughout his training. He was approved for his CDLA training and attended CDLA college and graduated on time. He received resume assistance and case manager guidance on resumes and job searching.

Outcomes & Benefits

Marcus found employment making more than he was making prior his layoff, and he is working locally full time. He is working for a reputable company. He stated that because of his degree and the benefits that his company offers, he will have the opportunity to grow with the company and utilize his degree once he has more experience under his belt. He is excited to have been able to find a better opportunity than what he thought he had!
