Meet Tim

Workforce Challenge

Tim had a solid 23 years as a respiratory therapist, but when he relocated to Colorado with his family, he wasn’t sure where to turn. Since he hadn’t had to apply for jobs or brush up his resume for the last 23 years he’d been employed, Tim was nervous about how to get a positive response from employers. After a few months in Colorado, Tim heard about A/D Works! from a friend and started visiting and attending classes.

Workforce Solution

Tim found that just being at the workforce center made a difference in his job search, and that the helpful, friendly environment made it easier. He stated, “I was coming to work when I came here. The resources were just excellent, [with] Microsoft Office, faxing, printing and especially assistance and ideas from the staff. It was all very helpful.” Since he didn’t have Windows and Microsoft Office at home, Tim felt like he could really get work done and the environment was conducive to helping him stay focused. In addition, Tim gained valuable experience from the workshops – he used what he learned to polish up his resume, enhance his networking skills and was able to form stronger connections with some local recruiters.

Outcomes & Benefits

Tim’s improved resume was getting more attention, and soon he had an interview for a position as a Clinical Specialist. Tim was able to secure a position at well above his expected salary.
