Meet Guillermo

Workforce Challenge

As a Senior Account Executive and Outside Technical Sales Representative for a technology service provider, 41 year-old, Navy Veteran, Guillermo, was laid off in October of 2014. His confidence was shaken, and he felt that he needed additional training if he was going to gain a competitive edge and rejoin the workforce.

Workforce Solution

While attending an Employment Development Department workshop, he was informed of the programs available to veterans. A Veteran Affairs Counselor referred Guillermo to the Beach Cities One-Stop. He enrolled in classes at New Horizons Computer Center in Culver City to receive formal training and certification in Cisco Networking Administration.

Outcomes & Benefits

After adding the new certifications to his resume, Guillermo found more employment opportunities open to him. Ultimately, he interviewed with Dell and was hired as an Outside Sales Representative for the Southern California Region. He says, “I am extremely grateful to the Beach Cities One-Stop staff and very happy that I took the added training to enhance my skills.”
