Meet Laura

Workforce Challenge

When the recession negatively impacted the business Laura and her husband owned, it was necessary for her to seek outside employment. Having not been active in the job market for over 15 years, she needed help updating her resume for today’s technology and building connections in the community.

Workforce Solution

Participating in the many workshops, job clubs, career fairs, and networking opportunities available through the American Job Center helped Laura fine tune her resume and gain access to companies offering employment opportunities which matched her skill set. She was able to enhance her computer and technology skills to take full advantage of LinkedIn and other social media outlets, and she built a network of contacts with whom to share strategies and job leads.

Outcomes & Benefits

With the assistance of the American Job Center in general, and the Add-Me Academy in particular, Laura was able to interview with a number of well qualified employers. She secured a marketing position in the health care arena, which is exactly the opportunity she was seeking.
