Meet Chelsea

Workforce Challenge

Over the past three years, Chelsea made great strides towards her career goals. She graduated high school with honors and attended Alpena Community College. However, her brother tragically died during her second semester and she left school.

Workforce Solution

Through WIA school and transportation assistance with books, gas and car repairs, Chelsea was able to return to school.

Outcomes & Benefits

Chelsea is now participating in a phlebotomy internship at the Hillman Medical Clinic and has been on the Dean’s list every term. She will graduate in May and take the certification test this summer. Chelsea wants to work at the hospital in Alpena, and she may also decide to get ultrasound certification. Through the assistance provided, Chelsea has been extremely successful. She has been an exemplary grant participant and an inspiration to other participants as well. As Chelsea completes her follow-up phase of the grant this spring, we look forward to keeping in touch in the future and hearing about her continued success.
