Meet Alexis

Workforce Challenge

Alexis came to the WIOA Youth Succeed program seeking support to finish high school. Alexis experienced some issues at home and moved in with her aunt and had to transfer schools.

Workforce Solution

The Youth Succeed program provided Alexis with transportation assistance to help her get to school. WIOA was also able to pay for school fees that were a financial burden for the family. Alexis was nervous because she wasn't sure how she would do at a new school. The case manager was able to provide emotional support for Alexis. Both of Alexis's parents are incarcerated, and she didn't want that to get in the way of her finishing high school.

Outcomes & Benefits

Alexis worked hard and received her high school diploma in May 2015. Alexis wanted to start college in Fall 2015, but had to find a job to help her family. Alexis will be starting college for Nursing at Front Range Community College in January 2016, and she wants to become a Registered Nurse. She will exit the WIOA Youth Succeed program successfully.
