Workforce Challenge

Amber is a young mother who came into the Frisco Workforce Center after completing a drug rehabilitation stay. She needed assistance in rebuilding her life. Through the turmoil and moves, she had lost all her personal identification, social security card, her job, and in large part, her hope.

Workforce Solution

Amber worked with her career coach and took steps to replace her personal identification. Within seven weeks she had her birth certificate, social security card, and her State ID. With all of this completed, she enrolled in WIOA the first week in November. Amber completed a job hunting portfolio in order to ready herself for a work experience and applied for admission to Colorado Mountain College. WIOA assisted her with funds to repair her car so that she would have reliable transportation for work and school.

Outcomes & Benefits

Amber enrolled in an associates degree program at Colorado Mountain College starting January 2016. She would ultimately like to be a Drug Abuse Counselor so that she can help others. Amber is now preparing for a work experience interview and we are looking forward to amazing things!

When asked about her experience at the career center, Amber shared, "My career coach is so awesome. What really sets her apart is how much she cares. She really wants to see me succeed and she shows it by all her hard work put into helping me find a job and get back into school. She is a great mentor to me."
