Meet James

Workforce Challenge

James was attending FRCC in an attempt to complete his business degree. He was only attending part time and was going to take a long time to complete it. He decided to obtain his CDLA to get stable employment and stable wages to support his family of seven: spouse, four children, his mother-in-law and himself. James declared that he got two misdemeanors in 2008: DUI and a Domestic Violence Disorderly Conduct. They are living off of social security survivor benefits of the children and receiving food assistance.

Workforce Solution

The CDLA training helped him become more financially stable. He needed this training to provide immediate stability for him and his family. He did not have a stable work history and
needed a career path rather than another short-term position.

Outcomes & Benefits

James will now not only be able to provide for his family financially, but with his flexible schedule as a driver, he will be able to pursue his degree to continue to grow in his career and provide long-term stability. He is no longer receiving food assistance and is working 40+ hours/week by choice as he is loving his new endeavor.
