Meet Roy and Stella

Workforce Challenge

PATH clients Roy and Stella lacked high school diplomas, but they had life-skills and desired employment. Northeast Consortium Michigan Works! Case Manager Kay began working with them in 2013, but their case was closed for non-compliance. At that time, they attempted AEP, but did not succeed. Fortunately, this time their PATH journey had a different outcome.

Workforce Solution

Starting where they left off, Roy and Stella attended AEP orientation with Kay, and they were given an assignment to attend the Garland Lodge Job Fair. They received clothing vouchers and a gas card for travel to purchase interview clothes for the job fair.

Outcomes & Benefits

After attending the job fair, they both were offered and accepted positions at Garland Lodge, and soon after, their PATH case was closed due to income. Roy is now a groundskeeper and Stella works in the housekeeping department. They learned to never give up searching for full-time, self-sustaining employment, and to utilize and market the skills they had.
