Meet Sean

Workforce Challenge

Sean was a young adult working an entry-level job at a local amusement center, making little more than minimum wage. He was looking to get a better job, but needed extra help since he struggled with high school and was receiving food assistance.

Workforce Solution

Sean enrolled in the Adams County Youth Succeed Program. He enrolled in an HVAC program at Emily Griffith Technical College. Sean recently finished his program and received an HVAC certification as well as an EPA certification. To help give him some work experience in that field, we worked with a local HVAC business, Fix-It 24/7, to set up a paid work experience.

Outcomes & Benefits

Sean is working with technicians with decades of experience and will also earn another certification during the work experience. The worksite supervisor has noted that he shows promise and he is likely willing to hire him on when the experience ends. With his industry certificate, assistance with resume preparation, and work experience in the HVAC field, Sean is well on his way to a career pathway that will allow him to fully support himself and open opportunities to him.
