Meet Sarina

Workforce Challenge

Sarina is a young lady who is a senior at Lake County High School. When Sarina enrolled in WIA, she said, "I want to have a job so I can help my family get by." She had a work experience in another state that was also through the Workforce Center. When she moved to Colorado, she was already familiar with Workforce Centers and the support they could provide.

Workforce Solution

The Frisco career coach determined that Sarina would benefit from a work experience. When asked where she would like to intern, she indicated that she would like to work as a flight attendant for the airlines. She lives in Leadville, Colorado, and although a work experience as a flight attendant was not possible, she could participate in an internship at the Lake County-Leadville airport and become part of their team and learn about a high altitude airport operation.

Outcomes & Benefits

Sarina completed a job hunting portfolio to prepare herself for the airport work experience. She completed applications, wrote a resume and cover letter, brainstormed interview questions, viewed an interview video, did a mock interview, wrote a thank you letter, and completed two College in Colorado assessments for work values and interest profiles. Congratulations to Sarina to be helping her family and having an opportunity to learn new skills.
