Meet Vaughn

Workforce Challenge

Vaughn began his journey with Employment First by participating in Workfare and attending a job fair where Adams County Workforce & Business Center team recruited him to assist with his educational need of a obtaining his GED. Vaughn struggled in high school and dropped out in the 10th grade. He expressed the need for paying all costs associated with the GED and had goals of exploring college options after getting his GED.

Workforce Solution

Youth Succeed assists youth with GED practice test fees, GED preparation fees, and official testing. Vaughn worked diligently at increasing his skills and abilities for the official GED test in GED prep classes. He also continued to complete his community service requirements for food assistance while attending GED prep classes, which continued to increase his work skills.

Outcomes & Benefits

Vaughn completed his community service requirement and successfully received his GED in September 2015 with the help of Youth Succeed program. He is now working with his case manager and business development representative to participate in a work experience with a local library where he will gain librarian skills that could determine his college career pathway goal.
