Meet Brenna

Workforce Challenge

Brenna was a young mother of two who had been unemployed for the last six months. She needed to find a career path and was interested in dental assisting.

Workforce Solution

Brenna was enrolled into the WIOA Youth Succeed program at Adams County and co-enrolled in the adult WIOA program. Brenna began a dental assisting program and the Adams County Workforce and Business Center paid for her program. She took the initiative while finding her own job shadowing locations to find an employer that would be willing to participate in a work experience opportunity.

Outcomes & Benefits

Brenna is in the fifth of eight weeks of her dental assisting program, and she has begun a paid work experience with 4th Avenue Orthodontics, which is giving her orthodontic dental assisting experience that she cannot get through a general dental assisting program. She is succeeding in her program and the work experience, paving the way for a career in her chosen specialization.
