Workforce Challenge

KW Corporation was established in 2003 as a one-man operation, serving only local and residential customers one at a time. The now private company has grown to become a national provider of communication services, including 24-hour customer support. The company desired to break into the wireless communications market, but to do that, they would need to train their existing workforce.

Workforce Solution

The Skilled Trades Training Fund Grant (STTF) provided funds to train employees in the area of access control. The company was also able to utilize on-the-job training for several employees.

Outcomes & Benefits

The Skilled Trades Training Fund Grant (STTF) allowed KW to break into the wireless market with a product that exceeds all others in flexibility, customization and integration capabilities. The company was also able to hire three people, one specifically via on-the-job training (OJT). This training is the beginning of a new service, a new ‘edge’ and a new area of growth that has limitless possibilities. The training has already increased business contracts in Michigan, and the company hopes to expand to the rest of the nation as well.
