Employment Services of Weld County

Meet Adrian

Workforce Challenge

Adrian was referred to Employment Services of Weld County (ESWC) by Child Welfare. He came to ESWC with an extensive list of challenges. Not only did he not have a GED, work history or any form of training, he was also on probation and pending a criminal trial.

Workforce Solution

Due to Adrian's Child Welfare referral, he was enrolled in the Weld County Youth Conservation Corps (WCYCC) TIGHT program. He was then co-enrolled with WIA/WIOA in an effort to provide a continuum of services. During this time he obtained his GED and began job searching. He quickly realized that it is difficult to obtain employment as he participates in court ordered groups, has probation appointments and court appearances. Greg, Adrian's Youth Case Manager, assisted Adrian through the application and interview process for WCYCC's AmeriCorps program. He was accepted and is currently serving a term of service.

Outcomes & Benefits

Adrian has done so well that the local District Attorney's Office supported the motion ESWC filed to allow Adrian to attend the Colorado Firecamp in Salida, Colorado, with his AmeriCorps peers. Thanks to the entire team pulling together for Adrian, he obtained his S-212 Chainsaw Certification and continues as an AmeriCorps member.
