Meet Janice

Workforce Challenge

Workforce centers aren’t just for the unemployed or the underemployed--ask Janice. They are also for those who might be working but want to find their “dream job” in another field.
Janice, a veteran from the United States Navy, spent two long years working jobs that paid the bills but really didn’t give her much internal satisfaction.

Workforce Solution

But Janice wouldn’t give up; she was a trooper as she diligently searched for her dream job as an alcohol and drug abuse case manager. She polished her resume, participated in mock interviews, networked, took countless assessments, and relentlessly used the computers at the Resource Center in her job search.
Janice passionately wanted to make a difference in people’s lives and help them succeed.
She was convinced that helping people was her life’s calling and the Navy veteran just couldn’t give the dream up.

Outcomes & Benefits

Finally, after two years of relentless searching, Janice found her dream job as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor at a nationally recognized health care facility in Cañon City, Colorado. Diligence, tenacity and hard work finally paid off.
Most importantly, Janice said, it was the team at the Cañon City Workforce Center that kept her going with their encouragement, friendly customer service and helpful demeanor.
“The Cañon City Workforce Center is a fantastic resource,” Janice said, “It is the largest source of jobs in the area, maybe even in the nation. I give it a ten in the area of customer service and always felt welcome.” Congratulations to Janice as she reached for her employment stars and was finally able to catch one.
