Meet Emily

Workforce Challenge

Emily didn’t have a lot job skills or experience that would land her a quality job outside of fast food; however, fast food was an option she would not entertain. Her dream job was to be an orthodontist, but since she was on probation, she didn’t feel like the dentistry field would allow her to pursue that dream.

Workforce Solution

The Denver Transitions for Youth Program, CCFExO, was developed to address the specialized needs of participants who have been adjudicated or convicted of a juvenile justice system criminal charge, and because of these circumstances, are having difficulty obtaining employment. Emily started the program when she was 17 years old and a junior at Summit Academy in Denver.

Outcomes & Benefits

Through CCFExO, Emily attended Job Readiness Training and learned the importance of a great attitude, being accountable, and being a team player. The program offered many work experiences, and she graduated with honors. She contacted her Case Manager to inquire about training funds. CCFExO provided funding so she could attend the Colorado School of Dental Assisting. Through CSDA she earned her certificate and landed a great job with benefits. She appreciates all her support & hopes to mentor a youth.
