Meet Danielle

Workforce Challenge

Danielle was a single mom facing many challenges, including medical troubles, and a lack of work history and appropriate work clothing. She was referred to Michigan Works! by the Department of Human Services.

Workforce Solution

Determined to overcome her challenges, Danielle excelled in the PATH program. Her Case Manager/Trainer Linda worked closely with her to develop a plan of action. She attended employment skills workshops where she created a resume, cover letter and references. She also attended computer lab classes and soft skills workshops, and earned a Gold certificate by Workkeys testing. Ready to put her new skills to the test, she applied for jobs. She searched on the Pure Michigan Talent Connect website, used the Michigan Works! Resource Room Job Board and checked the local newspapers. She emailed and mailed resumes to potential employers and filled out applications.

Outcomes & Benefits

When her job search hours were maxed out, she went into a WEP site. Linda helped her with transportation costs and purchased work clothing to cover tattoos. Danielle was cooperative, determined and confident. Soon after, Danielle was called for an interview at a factory. She interviewed well and was offered a full-time position as a Production Operator. She has accepted the position and has been there ever since.
