Meet Katherine

Workforce Challenge

After 20 years as a contractor in a service-focused, non-profit organization, Katherine became unemployed. She visited Michigan Works! to register for UI and find a new career.

Workforce Solution

Talent Specialist Yolanda helped update her resume, create a cover letter and conduct mock interviews. An Assistant Project Manager position became available at Moran Iron Works, but Katherine had no experience in the manufacturing industry or in using CAD. Yolanda referred her to Michigan Works! staff Nicole who contacted the company and proposed on-the-job training. Moran Iron Works agreed to hire pending training.

Katherine completed training and was hired by Moran Iron Works as an Assistant Project Manager.
