Workforce Challenge

Do you remember trying to get your first job with no experience? Alex was a high school junior with no work experience, an emotional disability and some conflicts at home. His family was accessing services from community providers, but wanted Alex involved in a program to develop his work skills; that's when he enrolled in the Workforce Prep Program.

Workforce Solution

Alex consistently attended the program's work readiness classes and was an active participant in learning how to get a job and become a good employee. Alex secured his own employment with a movie theatre and improved his peer relationships dramatically while participating in the program. He was trained in several positions at the movie theatre because of his dependability.

Outcomes & Benefits

Alex graduated high school in the spring of 2009 and enrolled at McHenry County College in the fall of 2009. He has been employed at the same job for two years, increasing both his hours and the positions held. Alex has proven that hard work can lead to success, in spite of disabilities.
