Meet Kirk

Workforce Challenge

Kirk came to the Adams County Workforce & Business Center in February 2015 to seek assistance with training for a Commercial Driver's License. At the time, Kirk was making $12.00 an hour, but most of his income was going to child support payments, and as a result, he was living out of his truck. At his current job, Kirk not only wasn't making a living wage, but he also didn't have room to advance. During the application process, he faced several issues due to his background, but he didn't give up, providing everything he was asked for.

Workforce Solution

Kirk received a Workforce Investment Act scholarship and was able to pursue CDL training. He graduated in May 2015 and by the end of May, he was successfully working as a truck driver.

Outcomes & Benefits

Thanks to WIA assistance Kirk started a new career that will allow him to succeed, advance and have much better living condition. His story is a perfect example of the impact WIA can have on an individual's life.
