Meet Christina

Workforce Challenge

After 11 years as a Graphic Design Artist, Christina was laid off in June 2011. She had an associate's degree in graphic design, but at the time, there were very few job openings for graphic designers. She decided to change careers to be more marketable.

Workforce Solution

Christina was enrolled in the Trade Adjustment Act (TAA) program and the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program. TAA paid for her tuition and all training costs for an associate's degree to become a physical therapist assistant (PTA). WIA paid for supportive services to assist her financially while in training.

Outcomes & Benefits

Christina graduated with her PTA degree and received her license in July 2014. She obtained employment as a physical therapy assistant in September 2014, making a sustainable wage.
