Workforce Success Story Submitted By:
Parent Program

Meet Alex

Workforce Challenge

Alex was referred to the Parent Program by his legal technician in the Adams County Child Support Department. During our initial assessment, Alex disclosed that he felt he was having difficulty securing work due to his ex-offender and drug use record. His challenge was getting potential employers to look beyond his past when applying for suitable employment. He was frustrated and discouraged.

Workforce Solution

We discussed his skills, decided on the type of work he would like to pursue, and he was guided on how to find the right opportunities. He learned how to use the Connecting Colorado system which generates automated job matches based on the client's skill sets and he was also provided with a list of job websites, temporary staffing agencies and other resources. We worked together on developing his resume and he was coached on his interviewing skills.

Outcomes & Benefits

Interviews came, and finally he secured work on 4/29/2015, making $11.00+ an hour, working full-time as an assembly/production worker. He thanked us for our assistance and said he was grateful for the opportunity to work with us through the Parent Assessment Referral Employment and Training Program (PARENT PROGRAM).
