Meet Henrietta

Workforce Challenge

Henrietta was laid off from a large company in July 2012. She was eligible for Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and Trade Adjustment Act (TAA) benefits. She was a single mom with two kids and had no post-high school education.

Workforce Solution

The Adams County Workforce & Business Center enrolled Henrietta in the TAA and WIA programs. The TAA paid for her tuition to attend a junior college for her associate's degree in accounting, and the WIA program provided supportive services to help her financially while attending school.

Outcomes & Benefits

Henrietta graduated in December 2014 with her associate's Degree in accounting and achieved a 3.54 GPA. He was hired in February 2015 as an accounts payable manager making $2.50 more per hour than she made prior to her layoff.
