Meet Dana

Workforce Challenge

Before coming to the Adams County Business & Workforce Center, Dana had worked in the marketing industry for 20 years, working her way up to management level positions. However, since being laid off in 2009, she had only been able to secure contract work. After a series of interviews with no success, Dana came to the workforce center for help refocusing her professional presentation and finding success in the job market.

Workforce Solution

Dana's education was slightly outdated, but the work experience and job skills showcased on her resume helped her attract the interest of employers, who often set up interviews. The difficulty came when it was time for Dana to 'close the deal' and get a job offer.

In a series of job search counseling sessions, Adams County Workforce Center helped Dana learn to better articulate and emphasize her qualifications, characteristics and skills, improving her ability to market herself as a strong candidate to local employers.

The Center conducted targeted job searches, analyzed job descriptions, and researched local employers' company culture to find the best fit for Dana. Then, Dana practiced interviewing to further highlight how her skills were a match for the job and company's needs.

Outcomes & Benefits

With this assistance, it was not long at all before Dana went from getting interviews to receiving job offers. She selected the position with which she felt most comfortable. Dana is now successfully reemployed in her field of expertise, performing marketing and planning duties for a sustainable wage of $20.00 per hour. She is very thankful for the employment and the services of the Workforce Investment Act program and the Adams County Business & Workforce Center.
