Meet Tamra

Workforce Challenge

Unemployed, Tamra visited the Edwards Workforce Center to receive training assistance. She wanted a career as a CNC Programmer for an employer who builds furniture. Tamra had some computer and programming skills, but not the particular skills the employer required. She and the employer were interested in the on-the-job training program.

Workforce Solution

Workforce staff determined that Tamra was eligible for the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program, and they coordinated with the employer to develop an on-the-job training program.

Outcomes & Benefits

Tamra successfully completed the training program. Early on, the employer said that Tamra was exceeding expectation. She continues to work for the company as a CNC Programmer. The employer is quite pleased with his new employee and the opportunity to participate in the on-the-job training program. He thanks the center for their professionalism.
