Meet Brenda

Workforce Challenge

Brenda was a senior in high school when her father died. As a result, she did not complete the year and was married shortly after. She went to work, but always regretted not finishing school and receiving her diploma. After being laid off from her job, where she had worked for many years, she was concerned about her ability to find employment without a High School diploma and solid job skills.

Workforce Solution

Brenda went to the Middlesex County One-Stop Career Center and was referred to the New Brunswick Public School Adult Learning Center for Basic Skills and GED studies. Brenda proved to be a dedicated student and worked diligently to accomplish all her goals. After raising her TABE math scores and passing the GED, she attended training in Office Management and Computerized Accounting.

Outcomes & Benefits

Upon completion of the training program, Brenda did an intensive job search and was successful. She is currently employed at William Sonoma.
