Meet Eileen

Workforce Challenge

Eileen was unemployed for two years. Her last jobs included grocery clerk at Food-4-Less and staff at AutoZone. She wanted to build a career with the potential for advancement. She was also interested in the medical field, but she wasn't sure how to move forward.

Workforce Solution

A few of Eileen’s friends told her about their successful career transitions made possible by the Workforce Investment Board (WIB). She visited the WIB's America’s Job Centers of California seeking help with employment and training. She was assigned an advisor, and she was approved for the certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program. The advisor also helped Eileen access many other supportive services, including paid gas cards for transportation to and from classes.

Outcomes & Benefits

Eileen successfully completed the CNA program and obtained employment at Heritage Garden. Eileen said that the WIB services “exceeded her expectations,” and she appreciates all the support and help she received.
